Christmas cards by Teresa DeWitt-Pierce

Christmas cards by Teresa DeWitt-Pierce | Rinea
Hello, Rinea fans!
It's Teresa here from Whimsical Card Studio.  I had a sudden flash of inspiration that led me to create these fun backgrounds with hand-torn pieces of Rinea foiled papers in my favorite holiday color combos.  Combined with some festive Christmas dies and sentiments, you can create an almost endless array of backgrounds for cards.

I used the following foiled papers on my cards.  Most of these colors are also in the Frosted Foiled Paper pack (except the Ruby color)
Card with skate:  Glossy Turquoise/Gold and Glossy Silver/Gold foiled papers
Card with tree: Glossy Sapphire Blue/Gold and Glossy Silver/Gold foiled papers
Card with snowflakes:  Starstruck Turquoise, Starstruck Silver, Glossy Turquoise/Gold, and Glossy Silver/Gold
CREATE THE BACKGROUNDS:
Grab a couple of the small sheets (4" x 6") of your favorite color combo.  Carefully tear the sheets into smaller pieces - five is the perfect number if the pieces are roughly 1" each.  The more irregular the edge the better the result for this technique.

Then glue the torn pieces onto a piece of copy paper (cut to 4" x 5"), slightly overlapping each color over the next. I found it easiest to start from the top and bottom and work my way in towards the middle.
Then run the piece through an embossing folder of your choice.  I used a background die that doesn't cut completely through the paper.  This really helps to "weld" together the separate pieces even though they are glued down.
If needed to neaten the edges, you can then trim off a little.
Next, I die cut some snowflakes in the two different Starstruck foiled papers in the same set.  I used 3 different styles and cut one of each color - Turquoise and Silver Starstruck foiled paper.
I then glued the silver and aqua pieces together to make 3 layered snowflakes, making sure to offset the colors slightly.
I then put the background base layer onto a card base and decorated it with the snowflakes.  I added a strip of glossy aqua/gold foiled paper for the sentiment.
The other cards were made with the exact same technique for the background, but I used other Christmas dies and stamps in my collection to complete the cards.  This is a technique truly friendly to whatever dies you already have.
Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I'd love to hear what you think and hope I have inspired you.
Until next time,
Teresa
