Elegant Christmas Ornaments with Rinea Foiled Paper
I don't really know why Christmas in July is a "thing" but I am glad it is because that gives me just the push I need to get an early start on my holiday cards and crafts. This month I am cranking out some very elegant ornaments I created pairing foiled paper from the Jolly Variety Pack with some new dies from Eileen Hull and Sizzix.
The Jolly Variety Pack contains Glossy Foiled Paper in Emerald Green, Ruby Red, Silver & Gold. The pack also has the red, green and silver in the Starstruck finish.
I sometimes like to add a bit of "character" and texture to my foiled paper. The easiest way to do that is to wrinkle up the paper and then carefully flatten it out. The more you wrinkle, the more "character" you get. I was pretty light handed with the Ruby Red Glossy paper this time, but I think it gives a nice feeling of age to the ornament. I used double sided adhesive sheets to adhere the foiled paper to mat board before running it through the machine. I also die cut a wreath and some greenery from the Glossy Emerald Green.
The die set also included a bow. I used Gold Foiled Paper in both the Glossy and Starstruck finishes, layering them to create an embossed look.
Pull it all together and add a die cut initial and you have a very elegant ornament (with just a tiny bit of character)!
The next ornament started basically the same way but I actually inlaid the wreath this time. After I die cut the ornament shape out of mat board, I ran it through the machine again with a Thinlits die on top. That created a recessed area in the shape of the die cut and I was able to line up the die cut wreath and glue it in place. If you look closely you can see that this ornament has even more "character"! When I ran the ornament through the second time all of the scratches and imperfections on my old cutting plates transferred to the foil. Personally, I love it but if you prefer yours all glossy and smooth, then you can just adhered the wreath on top of the ornament.
The tree was die cut from Starstruck Emerald Green Foiled Paper (on mat board) and topped with a gold star. Perfect!
The last ornament has Starstruck Silver as the base layer and Glossy (wrinkled) Ruby Red elements on top!
