Rita Barakat Mermaid Comp Book by Roni
Hello Friends, Roni here! This month we are collaborating with Rita Barakat using her fun and funky stencils and stamps. Since school is starting I thought it would be fun to create a unique, one of a kind composition book.
I wanted my girl to have her own unique style so I decided to give her mermaid hair with help from the Princess Foiled Paper Variety Pack, Sapphire/Sapphire Starstruck Foiled Paper and Jade/Jade Starstruck Foiled Paper and a bit of paper piecing magic!
Directions:
Begin by placing the stencil over the comp book you want to transform, once located in the position you would like the face to be, then use a Sharpie to outline the book cover.
Determine what colors you would like to use for your girl and assign a color to each segment of the stencil. To help me remember I wrote directly on the stencil so I could refer back to it as often as necessary.
Trace and cut each piece of the image on the various colors of foiled paper that you wish to use. Be sure to keep these pieces in a separate pile somewhere. I made the mistake of cutting an eye from a piece of hair and had to recut a couple pieces.
Adhere each piece of the image to the composition book. Use the stencil for placement and alignment of each piece on the cover of the book so everything lines up properly.
Use an alcohol marker to trace around each piece of the image to add definition.
If desired you can add extra details to make your girl really pop. I used a hole punch to create the little dot in her eye and added lots of lashes using an alcohol marker. You can add as few or as many details as you'd like.
Hope you try paper piecing with your foiled paper, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
